Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???

i'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.

i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.

i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

Hey there OC,

I'm not a sewing guy for two reasons:

1. Minimus might shun me.

2. Been too busy making a living, being a JW and raising kids.

I actually sent off for a kit for a backpacking quilt from Ray Jardine but never got around to actually making it. Maybe when the kids have flown the coop I'll do it.

In the meantime, here's an essay written by Ray Jardine that I think you might enjoy. He's kind of the Grand Daddy of ultra light backpacking. Sorry I can't post the content directly. He's got his website set up to prevent cut & paste.

i thought, how cool.

Find and read the Letter to Bodies of Elders re: Pornography.

Figure out exactly what kind, how often and whether or not you masturbated to it. Be careful! If you pick stuff that the WT deems too "debased" you may end up Disfellowshipped. Anyway, if you admit to just the right blend of porn and wanking, they will have no choice but to remove you immediately.

Just a thought.

Got the contract

now i just have to sign on the dotted line and drop it off and i shall once again be in the permanent job field.

i won't be earning a huge amount by any means but it is enough to cover my bills and to save a little bit.

this does give me that relief of finances coming in, of course i'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for better opportunities, but that being said i shall embrace this new opportunity with open arms and eagerness.. it's been a hellofa tough year people - hellofa tough.

they excuse it by saying, it's ok since at least they were on the watch.. i believe they should think about god's view of watchmen who constantly gave false pronouncements.

they would be judged accordingly by god!.

Not a huge point, but notice they don't say the Faithful & Discreet Slave or the Governing Body got it wrong. Jehovah's Witnesses got it wrong. That could include individual JWs with their own unofficial timetables.

Again, not a huge point, but it does have a subtle effect on the meaning of the sentence.

Anxiety Attacks At Meetings

i believe i posted on this before.

but,i was recently thinking back when i was still regularly going to meetings.

and how sometimes,just the thought of having to start to get ready to go,sent me in a panic.

I'll never forget attending a meeting shortly after my wife awakened a few years ago. Due to JW guilt programming she felt compelled to at least "answer up" (as the Brits & Aussies say) at least once. The easy way out is to read a scripture. She raised her hand to read Romans 2:15 about non-Jews still being influenced by their conscience.

"They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts, they are being accused or even excused."

My wife must have felt like Saphira and that Jehovah's Holy Spirit was peering into her wicked heart the whole time. Her voice started tightening up half-way through the verse and quite a few people wondered what was wrong with Ms. OM.

That's the last public comment my wife ever gave at a KH.
